Generic Levitra

Generic Levitra Levitra is the brand name for vardenafil, a medication belonging to a certain class of drugs known medically as phosphodiesterase inhibitors or PDE inhibitors. PDE inhibitors are used for the treatment of impotence or male erectile dysfunction (MED).
Used mainly for MED, vardenafil will not be the all-out cure for erectile dysfunction. It will also not guarantee sexual desire. Vardenafil should also not be confused for a birth control pill as it will not prevent pregnancy from occurring. It is also not a preventive drug for the transfer of sexually-transmitted diseases. You should practice care and prudence in ensuring safe sex.

How does Levitra work?

PDE inhibitors allow for the relaxing of penile muscles, sacs, and blood vessels and helps increase the flow of blood into the penile area. With the increased blood inflow and retention, erection is achieved and maintained.

How should I take the product?

If you are looking for Levitra for the first time, know that this vardenafil Levitra is a tablet that is taken orally. It can be taken with or without food as and when needed, that is, prior to any sexual activity, at least an hour before such. It is prescribed to be taken only once a day. The one-a-day dose, together with your doctor’s advice and your prescription instructions, ensure that you will not unnecessarily overdose on Levitra.
Should you happen to overdose, treat it like a poisoning and seek emergency medical attention from your local poison treatment center or from your doctor. Some of the symptoms of vardenafil overdose include severe back pains, muscle pains, and vision problems bordering on blurring to actual loss.
As earlier said that Levitra vardenafil is taken only when needed prior to sexual activity, it is not likely that you will miss a dose.

Precautions

As in the case of other medications, you should inform your doctor of your plan to take vardenafil or if you have taken it before, whatever reactions or side effects or even allergy you may have had.
Your doctor will probably advise you to avoid taking the following medications or substances as their reaction may vary from mild to severe in combination with vardenafil: nitrates like isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and nitroglycerin. Check any tablet, spray, ointment or paste that you may be taking for any presence of nitrates in their ingredients.
Other information will have to be relayed to your doctor. Among the information should be the following: your use of any other prescription or over-the counter medications, vitamins, mineral supplements, nutrition supplements, use of alpha blockers, antifungals, and other medications. Check out the section below on drug interactions for complete details on other drugs that need to be considered before taking Levitra.
If you have had penile shape conditions, high blood pressure, angina, stroke, ulcers, blood cell disorders, myeloma, liver disease, heart disease, or kidney disease, these must be relayed to your doctor, too.

Side effects

If you have had an erection that lasted for more than four hours after using Levitra, make sure to tell your doctor about this.
Vardenafil has other side effects that range from the mild to severe. These may include one or a combination of headaches, upset stomach, dizzy spells, heartburns, flushing, influenza-like symptoms, muscle pains, etc. More serious side effects include vision impairment or even loss, color blindedness or discoloration, swellings in facial area and extremities, breathing difficulties, fainting spells, hives or rashes.
The occurrence of any or a combination of the foregoing augurs different bodily reactions you may have to vardenafil; as such, you should take caution and seek your doctor’s opinion on whether or not you can continue on taking vardenafil.

What should I avoid while taking Levitra?

Make sure that you avoid taking street drugs or recreation drugs that contain amyl nitrate or poppers that contain butyl nitrate while using vardenafil. Take caution in use of herbal products particularly St. John’s wort. Vardenafil is not for use of women, especially pregnant women or those who recently gave birth and are breast-feeding. Avoid smoking or better yet, quit smoking while on vardenafil use.
As no dietary restrictions exist vis-?-vis vardenafil, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, you may continue on with your regular dietary regimen.

Drug interactions

The use of any of the following drugs and substances will have to be relayed to your doctor prior to or while taking vardenafil: alpha blockers such as alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, tamsulosin, and terazosin; amiodarone; antifungals such as fluconazole, griseofulvin, itraconazole, and ketoconazole; aprepitant; carbamazepine; clarithromycin; cyclosporine; danazol; delavirdine; dexamethasone; diltiazem; disopyramide; efavirenz; erythromycin; fluoxetine; fluvoxamine; HIV protease inhibitors; isoniazid; lovastatin; medications for hypertension; metronidazole; nevirapine; other ED medications; nefazodone; paroxetine; phenobarbital; phenytoin; quinidine; rifabutin; rifampin; sertraline; sotalol; troleandomycin; verapamil; and zafirlukast.

Shelf life

Your product blisters or prescription labels will contain important information on manufacturing dates, expiration dates, and storage instructions. Shelf life is usually no less than two years from the date the drug was manufactured. Like other drugs, this should be kept away from children’s reach and stored in ideal room conditions away from direct heat or sunlight or exposure to moisture like in bathroom medicine cabinets.
